Deepak Adappa - Groomsman
Jim and Deepak have been friends since high school, sharing a passion for sports, fast food, and Mitch Hedberg, among many others. They both attended the University of Michigan together, and were roommates for all four years. Deepak and his wife, Helen, currently live in Dallas.
Robby Jankowski - Groomsman
Jim and Robby went to grade school together. Jim was actually carrying the football during the recess when Robby ran headfirst into the pole and narrowly survived. They have a six year streak going of having beers together at Frogtown Jonnies every Christmas and Thanksgiving day. Robby and his wife, Stacy, live in Toledo.
Mark Poskarbiewicz - Groomsman
Jim and Mark met one summer day before fifth grade and were instant friends. Through hard work and practice, they became alarmingly proficient at petty vandalism and building snow forts. Although they've lived over 500 miles apart for the last ten years, they've kept in touch as if they were still neighbors. Mark and his wife, Alyssa, live in Columbus.
Laura Schaefer - Bridesmaid
Laura is Katie’s sister in law. Katie and Laura bonded early on while dreading the 300m hurdle races in high school. Katie enjoys visiting Laura, Chris, and Kenzie at their home in Brookings, South Dakota. While there, Katie especially enjoys hanging out with Laura in the house while Chris works outside. Laura’s kind and easy-going personality make her a joy to hang out with.
Sarah Lundine - Bridesmaid
Sarah and Katie met while going to school at Luther College. At Luther, Sarah had a very successful cross-country career and continues to run (and win!!!) marathons and triathlons. Whether they are running around the streets of Decorah, doing “laps” with the recycling truck through campus, or just hanging out in sweatshirts and leggings, Katie and Sarah’s shared humor and inside jokes make everything fun. Sarah is a very wise, loyal friend and has been a blessing in Katie’s life since they met.
Whitney Schaefer - Bridesmaid
Whitney is Katie’s sister in law. Together, Whitney and Katie are on a quest to get the rest of the Schaefer family to RELAX and have fun. Leading by example, Katie and Whitney both like to spend time puzzling and staying inside when it is too cold in Minnesota. Whitney is a strong and intelligent woman and has been a role model for Katie in her work and life.
Chris Schaefer - Usher
Chris is Katie’s brother. While growing up, Chris was kind enough to mow the lawn every summer so that Katie never had to. Sometimes Katie would pretend to help Chris dig his trench in the woods, but that’s about as close to real “work” that Katie would ever attempt. Fortunately, Chris is very caring and hard working, so Katie always knew she had someone looking out for her.
Matt Schaefer - Usher
Matt is Katie’s brother. Whether he was making her watch Star Wars Episode V for the 1,000th time or sharing some of his favorite records, Matt has always been a supportive brother to Katie. Katie and Jim had the opportunity to visit Matt and Whitney in San Francisco last Spring. Together they enjoyed going for hikes, perusing wine country, and marathoning Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee.
Mason Meccia - Usher
Mason is Katie’s Danny Sunny’s friend. Katie has been babysitting Mason since he was 6 months old. Mason has always had an incredible sense of humor. Whether he is telling a joke, pranking Katie, or adding sarcastic commentary, Mason knows how to make everyone around him laugh. Mason also has a lot of talent in drawing. Mason has grown up to be a very imaginative, thoughtful, and (still) funny young man. Katie and Jim are excited to see where his creativity will take him next.
Pieper Meccia - Junior Bridesmaid
Pieper is Katie’s Danny Sunny’s friend. Katie has been babysitting Pieper since she was born. Most days she can be found on the soccer field. Pieper is a soccer star hailing from Minnetonka soccer club. Katie and Jim have enjoyed watching her play and are looking forward to seeing more games in the future. Pieper has shown wisdom beyond her years, yet still is young, fun, and bright. Be sure to watch for her in the 2020 summer Olympics!
Scottlynn Greer - Flower Girl
Scottlynn is Katie’s goddaughter. Scottlynn and Katie enjoy dancing to the soundtrack of Frozen and Sofia the First, playing volleyball, and reading books. Katie and Jim are so proud of Scottlynn. She is already a great leader and a caring older sister. Katie and Jim can’t wait to watch her grow up and become the amazing person she will be.
Kinley Greer - Flower Girl
Kinley is Scottlynn’s sister. She is quite the entertainer. Her mischievous grin, contagious giggle, and silly demeanor keep everyone around her on their toes and laughing. Katie and Jim love spending time with Kinley watching movies, singing songs, and reading books. Kinley’s playful spirit always brightens the room.
